Monkeypox and organ transplantation

The following advice is provided for clinical staff involved in facilitating organ and tissue donation in the UK.

To date, there are no reports of Monkeypox (MPX) transmission through solid organs and other substances of human origin (SOHOs).

It is expected that symptomatic cases should be identified early and will not be eligible to donate.

Information for clinicians including case definitions and MPX infection and suitability for organ donation can be found on the Government website.
