Sustainability and Certainty in Organ Retrieval (SCORE)

The Sustainability and Certainty in Organ Retrieval (SCORE) Programme was established in May 2023, following consultation and engagement with stakeholders across the organ donation and transplantation pathway over several years. The key aim is to make improvements to the pathways with the aim of creating a more sustainable, efficient and predictable service model.

To enable the pathway innovations, 5 key pillars have been identified where improvements or changes are required.

  1. Increase the certainty of donor potential
  2. Achieve financial sustainability
  3. Develop a future model for National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS) delivery
  4. Commission a sustainable framework for perfusion technology
  5. Enable a sustainable NORS workforce and community of practice
